Recently, 2K president David Ismailer updated staff about this organizational change through an official communication, which emphasized that playtesting had revealed the need for a distinct direction.
Ismailer expressed that the team is now reimagining the project with a refreshed approach, aiming to address gamer demands.

The news echoes a comparable move taken by 2K Games in August, when they recruited an industry veteran from the Diablo team to contribute to the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.
