The rigorous curriculum, especially in computer science, has pushed me to develop new skills and expand my understanding of complex topics. The transition was tough at first, but the supportive academic environment has helped me adjust and thrive. One of the highlights has been my 'Matters and Energy' class, which not only connects scientific concepts to everyday life but also allows me to apply my strong math skills and engage in research. Overall, my time at Poly has strengthened my academic abilities and prepared me for future success in the field of computer science.... - #69 Best Public High Schools in MarylandBaltimore City CollegeBaltimore City Public Schools, MD·9-12·Rating 3.82 out of 5 617 reviewsJunior: I have really enjoyed my time at Baltimore City College. The clubs and sports teams have really helped me to meet people and make friends with people I wouldn't encounter otherwise. For the most part, the teachers are very good and understanding. If something were to come up, I always know that I can talk to my teacher and work out an updated timeline for work submission. There are also a variety of resources to help any student with any subject, such as coach class and the reading/writing/math centers. However, I think that the building's lack of AC and equal sports facilities for the boys and girls are probably the most frustrating thing to me.... - #72 Best Public High Schools in MarylandBaltimore School for the ArtsBaltimore City Public Schools, MD·9-12·Rating 3.96 out of 5 149 reviewsJunior: Baltimore school for the arts is an enriching environment as well as supportive with students who need aid. At BSA, when gauging weather they put you on their year list of students, doesn't look at grades or behavior history and gives everyone a clean slate every quarter. This leaves support and an even starting ground for everyone that needs it.I was severely failing all my classes because of the stress of joining a challenging academic course later on in my high school journey, I was failing everything I tried because I came from a common curriculum school, whereas BSA has an advanced academic program due to shorter classes. After shutting down, I didn't feel good enough. But BSA had what I needed. My assistant principal got me on an intensive student learning plan that intervened and didn't even feel intensive to me once it started working, all I needed was support and I will never forget the incredible staff for there was no one you couldn't speak to.... - Bard High School Early CollegeBaltimore City Public Schools, MD·9-12·Rating 3.65 out of 5 54 reviewsSenior: My experience at Bard High School Early College was eventful. There are a lot of small events there and my school ends up turning them into a huge blow-out. Cookouts become student based concerts, pride parades become bake sales, and assembly's become dance battles. The teachers are always welcoming in the morning, even when they're going through stuff. Sometimes, they let the students shine their opinion on their personal lives for some help, or comfort. Bard is like a big family sometimes, but of course, families fight. Just this year, there have been over five fights there and two of them were just cat scratches. There's a strict "no fighting" policy that is heavily enforced at bard and the students there value their Associates degree too much to let petty drama get in their way... Sometimes. Now, based on the other public schools in the district, I'd say that we have the least amount of physical drama on campus.... Staff and Administrators truly care about students individually. They are attentive to students grades, mental health and overall wellbeing. We have the opportunity to start clubs, expand our talents and feel free to be creative without judgement. As most of us teenagers go through the stages of figuring out who we are and what we want to achieve Western High school does its best to support us in and outside of the school building. - City Neighbors High SchoolBaltimore City Public Schools, MD·9-12·Rating 3.72 out of 5 65 reviewsSenior: City Neighbors High School has been an amazing place for success. City Neighbors is a small charter high school which gets overlooked a lot but it shouldn’t be. City Neighbors has around 110 students a grade allowing students education to be better and teachers to see what students individually need for success. Overall, City Neighbors has allowed me to take the next step in my academic career with help from staff and faculty. I have had opportunities like: AP courses, Dual Enrollment, and outdoor opportunities. If I had to change something about City Neighbors it would be adding more opportunities for students to be seen. What I mean is more sports and bettering the sports we have. I am volleyball captain but have had to step up for my team outside of the game. I have had to reach out to outside sources for uniforms to fit us and to overall get us attentions as I feel we don’t get necessary support. Although my school blames it on being a “charter school”.
